DIRE
GOALS

The DIRE Act REQUIRES CLINICIANS

to provide written notification to patients of the actual radiation dose and associated risks of Diagnostic Ionizing Radiation Exposure (DIRE) prescribed in their medical test.

The DIRE Act TEACHES CLINICIANS

the radiation dose they are actually prescribing to patients and requires them to prescribe the DIRE similar to prescribing medicine..

The DIRE Act INCLUDES PRECISION

algorithms that allow clinicians to refer patients to DIRE-free exams when warranted and available.

The DIRE Act INFORMS, TRACKS AND STORES

patient’s environmental radiation exposure and DIRE, including more than 60 diagnostic tests. and  That information is stored in a nationwide Radiation Registry.

The DIRE Act CREATES OPPORTUNITIES

to conduct real time research during patient DIRE exams to further evaluate DIRE amounts and effects.
