THE
DIRE ACT

Diagnostic Ionizing Radiation Exposure (DIRE) Act

I want the right to choose what happens to my body.  If I don't want DIRE from a CT, a mammogram or an x-ray, I shouldn't be forced into it. The DIRE Act aims to give me, and all of us, that right.

Goals

Tackle radiation induced disease

Tackle radiation induced cancer and disease caused by DIRE

Right

to choose

Increase the patient’s right to choose safer diagnostic exams.

Reduce

carbon footprint

Reduce the carbon footprint from medical diagnostic testing

Improve risk vs. benefit ratio

Protect pregnant women & children

Collect and correlate data to improve the risk vs. benefit calculation for medical radiation

Increase research towards radiation protection for pregnant women

and children

Why Donate?

100% of your donation goes directly into aggressive lobbying efforts to pass The DIRE Act into law, to create educational platforms to spread awareness about the harms of DIRE as well as how to heal from it, to build a Radiation Registry that will allow clinicians and patients to track their own radiation exposure, including environmental and manmade radiation, and to conduct real time research of radiation in the ground, water, and air as well as in radiology departments nationwide.

It is imperative that we protect our children and our children's children by working together to pass The DIRE Act. A law that will directly impact how diagnostic medicine is practiced, not only in the United States, but worldwide. A law that will turn the tables of medicine towards protecting patients, instead of harming them with deadly radiation. A law that will fully enforce the Hippocratic Oath, "First Do No Harm", by educating both clinicians and patients about the harms of radiation as well as the safe alternatives. A law that will give us choice over our own bodies. The DIRE Act is much more than radiation education, awareness and monitoring. The DIRE Act is also freedom to choose what happens to our bodies by empowering patients with knowledge of the safe and effective alternatives that exist. The DIRE Act is knowledge to advocate for what you want, not what you are forced into.
